How wonderful to have a cuckoo-listening child! A precious moment neither you nor Jasper will forget.

My friends and I do a dawn chorus walk in the woods every May - it’s incredible 🍃

Gorgeous. The last several mornings I’ve been woken up at 4:30 by a solitary blackbird singing. It takes a long while for other birds to start joining in. It’s incredibly beautiful ✨

There's always one early bird! I think they're calling us out of hibernation. I do love the blackbird's song x

Lovely Bethany. The birds grow on you as you get older, don't they. In 2020 I discovered the Dunnock...one arrived in a tree across the lake to sing us through lockdown; it was love at first listen. I'd lived 70 years oblivious to its song, but here is was, revealing itself in COVID-land. I even wrote a tune to try to capture its mirth, but failed miserably. Now it's brought its mates and there is a chorus of them in Mullaghdubh Scotch. Go rabid mile faith gat aris. David

They absolutely do! I never imagined I would get so excited about a bird. I do love a dunnock - such mousey little birds. I think you should persevere with the songwriting, I'd love to hear that!
